Fiji nationals residing in the United Arab Emirates were joined by a few Pacific Island Diplomats, UAE nationals, fellow Fijians from abroad and Friends of Fiji in the UAE to celebrate the 51st Independence Day of the Republic of Fiji at the Intercontinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi on Friday 15th October, 2021.
Fiji’s Ambassador to the UAE His Excellency Naipote Tako Katonitabua welcomed the distinguished Guests including Fellow Fijians and was further grateful to his fellow Pacific Island diplomats for being present adding that our continuous support to our Pacific Family in this part of the world is needed in our journey together.
In attendance were Commissioner General’s to the Expo 2020 H.E Moses Kouni Mose of the Solomon Islands, H.E. Honourable ‘Akau’ola of Tonga, H.E.Joshua Kalinoe of Papua New Guinea, H.E. Aunese Makoi Simati of Tuvalu and his Wife Mrs Sunema Pie Simati and Minister-Counsellor at Embassy of the Kingdom of Tonga Mr Sione Sonata Tupou.
As typical in any Pacific Island gatherings, there was a lot of food, traditional performances and merry making as we all enjoyed Fiji’s special day in its history.
